The Deconstructed Throwdown...

A quick post before much needed sleeeeep...  Couldn't wait to make this card tonight.  I'm using the sketch from The Deconstructed Sketch Blog and the color challenge over at The Color Throwdown.  I went with the inspiration of the picture as well.  This paper seems to be my go to pad right now.  It's Authentique 6x6 Bundle - Fresh.  Love, love the beachy feel!  The image is from the Sweet Stop.  Inside the card I used a sentiment stamp from CtMH "One today is worth Two tomorrows - Ben Franklin".  This sentiment is perfect for the person I am making the card for.  The image is colored with Copics and the card is simply embellished with red Baker's Twine.  I debated adding more embellishments, but decided I liked the simplicity of the design.

The Pink Elephant

One quick card this morning =)  I loved the picture inspiration for The Pink Elephant Challenge posted yesterday and knew right away what I wanted to create.  I love when that happens!!  I went to my favorite sketch spot - Sweet Sketch Wednesday (what's sweeter than strawberries after all).  I had this cute Strawberry paper that I hadn't found a use for yet so I chose a cute little Sugar Sticks image from By LORi Designs and paper pieced her dress and hair ribbon.  Chose papers from the Taylored Expressions May Kit and from my stash.  I used a beautiful Navy Polka Dot ribbon also from the TE May Kit and adorned it with bright red buttons from my stash.

I love starting my day this way =)

Taylored Expressions May Kit

I had four posts yesterday - a record for me...  would have been five, but I chose sleep =) so, this morning I am posting my last card of the day from yesterday.  I decided to get out my May Kit from Taylored Expressions and make a card from one of their four final sketches.  The papers in the May Kit are very bright and bold.  I am a huge fan of Navy, so I chose to make that my base and take it from there...  This was a challenging sketch to do without Die-namics...  I do all my cutting with either by Fiskars paper trimmer, scissors or a good old ruler and my craft knife.  I do believe using Die-namics will be in my future...  The Kit has these cool canvas flowers that have tiny shapes that appear when color is added...  Everything you see on the card is straight from the kit except for the sentiment.  I used Celebrate from Pure Innocence - Birthday Princess.

Another Boy Card =)

A Challenge that is new to me is 2 Sisters Challenge.  This week it is to "Bring on the Boys".  I am also entering this card in The Color Throwdown Challenge.
I started off with a cute little boy image from Sassy Cheryl's.  He's standing there just waiting for a party...  I wonder if there is a gift in that hand behind his back...?  I colored him in with Copics and chose DP from the Bo Bunny Country Garden Collection.  The simple sentiment "For You" and the tiny Pewter brads are from CtMH.
Thanks for visiting!!

Man Card ; )

Tonight I made a card for the Challenge over at Perfect Sentiments.  Their Challenge was to make a card for a Special Man with NO PATTERNED PAPER...  hmmm...  I wasn't quite sure what to do at first, but then I remembered seeing a card with "woven" paper strips and thought I would give that a try with card stock.  The CS came from my stash and I used stamps from Close to My Heart that I had not used before and has been long since retired stamped with Olive Ink.

Congratulations!!

Another Graduation card!!  In sticking with the school's colors, I used Blue, White and Black for this card.  The sketch is from Sketch Saturday.  They always have a great sketch to work with.  The DP are single sheets from Recollections (can't go into the local Michael's without checking the papers =)...  The CS is Close to My Heart.  The image is from Sassy Cheryl's colored in with Copics.  I used a tiny punch for the embellishments at the top and bottom and high-lighted them with Glitz - Stardust also from CtMH.

The SkEtChY Challenge

I found this fun Sketch over at The Sketchy Challenges Blog.  I made this card for a friend who is having a bit of a rough time.  When I bought this paper, I immediately thought of her!!  The papers are Recollections single sheets I picked up at Michael's.  The ribbon, buttons and flowers are all from my stash.  The image is from Designed 2 Delight colored in with Copics.  Their Challenge this week is to add something that glitters, shimmers or shines.  The buttons fit that bill =) they are a retired item from Close to My Heart and I must say I will be sad when I run out - LOVE them!!  Oh, and I almost forgot, I also am entering this card in City Crafter Challenge - a Rose is a Rose =)

Hope you are having a great and crafty weekend!!

Retro Sketches #13

A few weeks ago I went on a Retreat with some of the women from my Church.  There was a sea side theme and we were given a necklace with a sand dollar that had Psalm 42:1 on the back...  Be still and know that I am God.  I really love the simplicity of the necklace and the power of the verse...    Once back at church that Sunday morning a friend who was not on the retreat commented on the necklace and the next week had written out the story of the Sand Dollar.  Well, once I found the Authentique 6x6 Bundle - Fresh, I knew I had to make a card for my friend using the paper.  I used a Bible verse stamp from Verve Zephaniah 3:17, ribbons from my stash and Chocolate ink from CtMH.   The sketch over at Retro Sketches was perfect for this card.
Can't wait to give it to her!!

Congrats Grad!

It's that time of year - Graduations are happening everywhere which means - cards are needed!!  Tonight's card was made with the following Challenges in mind:
Play Date Cafe - Red, Denim, Lt. Blue
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Use your country's National Colors - red, white and blue
Willow Sketchie Challenge - theme - red, white and blue

I used paper and ribbon from my stash.  The image is from Sassy Cheryl's and colored with Copics. The paper flower is Recollections and the buttons are CtMH.  The sentiment is Verve.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!!

Wynken, Blynken and Nod...

When my kids were young I loved this song...  finding this image brought back sweet memories.  I was looking through the images at Mo's Digital Pencil Shop looking for one related to "travel" and I happened upon this sweet image.  Challenge #136 is World Traveler with a Mo's image.  I am using the Sketch from Sketch Saturday- just LoVe this sketch!!  Too late to enter in the Challenge, but the sketch fits the card.  I used the colors from the Challenge at CR84FN  (oops - too late...).  The papers and ribbons are from my stash.  The stars are Close to My Heart.  The image and stars are colored with Copics and the stars sparkle with Stardust also from CtMH.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Sketch Saturday

OK, I am up way too late...  BUT, it has been a crazy week and my nights have been full.  I didn't want to miss the deadline at Sketch Saturday so...  after Life Group I got busy!!  The sponsor for this week's Challenge is Bunny Zoe's Crafts.  I took a look at her shop and chose a very fun Mermaid digital image!!  This little mermaid brings back memories of a weekend on Cape Cod with friends.  We spent some time at Old Silver beach and Beth and I made a mermaid in the sand out of seaweed...  we had some laughs over her and many other mermaids we encountered throughout the weekend...  I do love Cape Cod with friends!!!  I loved working with this Sketch!  I chose papers from Authentique 6x6 Bundle - Fresh!  I love the beachy theme to this paper pad.  I added a shell cut out from one of the papers in the pad along with 3 clear buttons knotted with waxy flax, both from Close to My Heart.  The sentiment is from LOTV.  Both the sentiment and the image are distressed with Sky ink from CtMH.  The image is mounted with Pop Dots.  Now this mermaid needs to get some sleep before it's time to go to work again...

a day for daisies...

Sweet Sketch Wednesday's sponsor this week is a day for daisies!!  I love their stamps and am combining the two Challenges with this card.  ADFD's challenge was to go Vintage and add polka dots, which I have to admit, in my rush to make the entry deadline, I forgot about the polka dots...  can we call the flowered background DP polka dots???  Probably not, but I do like the way the card turned out so it's all good!!  I can always use birthday cards, so I chose this "Vintage" girl with her "bouquet" of balloons.  She looks as though she just came from a Country Fair.  I colored her in with my Copic Markers and Fussy cut her out.  She is mounted with Pop Dots and the sentiment "enjoy" from Verve is stamped beside her.  The papers are from Authentique 6x6 Bundle - Genuine.  The ribbon and daisies are from my stash.

I realized today that it's my friend Cathy's husbands birthday this Saturday, so...  time to make him a birthday card.  I go up and visit so I thought that Sassy Cheryl's image sitting on the steps waving was a great image to use =)  I'm using the Sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches!!

I colored the image in with Copics.  The papers are from the Simple Stores 6x6 Paper Pad - Fabulous.  The buttons are Close to My Heart and the ribbon is from my stash.  I cut out the image and mounted it with Pop Dots.  The stamp Hi! and inside Happy Birthday are CtMH.

Happy Birthday Larry!!Thanks for visiting!!

Happy Birthday Sister Sue!!

Tomorrow is my sister's birthday.  So, I of course had to make her a card.  She has a beautiful yard complete with a bird bath.  So, I thought this image from Sassy Cheryl's Digi Shop was just the right fit for her card!!  I wanted to do the Challenge over at Runway Inspired Challenge Blog.  I thought this image was just right for that Challenge.  The shape of the birds reminded me of the pattern in the material of the dress.  I colored the image with Copics using bright orange and blue along with neutrals...  I love the way it turned out.  The papers are from a new Paper Pad I recently picked up - Authentique 6x6 Bundle "Fresh".  I especially like the "Parkay" flooring paper - reminds me of a Runway...  I finished the card off with three thin satiny ribbons.  I used the Sketch from {Freshly Made) Sketches.  I am also entering this card in the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog which is "anything but square".
Thanks so much for visiting!!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday

I found this cute Image while visiting blogs.  It is from the Etsy store Wings and Willows.  I loved working with this image and it was just the right size for this week's Sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday

I used shades of Beige, Brown, Orange and Grays in coloring the image.
I chose papers from the 6x6 Designer Paper Pad Howdy Doody from Miss Caroline.  The ribbon is from my stash and the brads and Happy Birthday stamp are CtMH.
I am also entering this card in the Crop Stop Challenge - a Masculine Birthday Card.

Retro Sketch No. 12

I needed a quick card for a birthday tomorrow.  I really like the Sketch over at Retro Sketches this week.  Perfect for a quick card yet a Sketch with interest...  The card is for a young man turning 25.  He is mentally challenged and I thought the papers from the Close to My Heart paper pack Dotty for You were fun and perfect for this card.  I cut out a 1" circle from the top layer to reveal "No. 1" and stamped to the left of the opening "YOU ARE" and mounted that layer with Pop Dots.  Happy Birthday is stamped on the inside.  I added three buttons and Baker's Twine to finish of the card.

Happy Birthday!!

Entering this card in the Retro Sketches Challenge and the Crop Stop Challenge which is to create a Masculine card.

Me and My Pony...

Today I had a package waiting for me when I got home - my order from Lili of the Valley!!  YAY!!!  I couldn't wait to get started!!  My daughter-in-law had a pony growing up and I just had to get this stamp - the sentiment inside (CtMH) is simply Just Because.  I can't wait to give it to her =)

I used the sketch from this week's Challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog.  I am also entering this card in Lili's Little Fairies Blog Challenge which is to use your favorite tool - the tool you couldn't do without!  I have two favorite tools and I used them both.  My Copics and my CtMH Cutting Tool.  I love to fussy cut the images and this knife is the best!!

I used papers from my stash of "extra" 6x6 papers and black ribbon from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by - Hope you are having a great crafty week!!

Happy 13th Birthday!!

Tonight I needed to make a card for a boy turning 13.  Normally I dread making cards for boys in their teens BUT I had found Teen Birthday Sentiments over at Melonheadz and tonight was the perfect opportunity to use one.  I'm doing a new (to me) Challenge tonight Tuesday Morning Sketches.

It was the perfect sketch for the sentiment.  I chose papers from the Simon Says Card Kit along with a Crystal Blue polka dot paper from the Close to My Heart Dotty pack.  I also used 3 clear buttons from CtMH tied with Crystal Blue Waxy Flax.  I like the CAS layout of this card, especially for a teanage boy.

Thanks for looking =)

The papers are from a retired Close to My Heart Paper Pack - Celebration.  The stamped sentiment is also CtMH "From Me to You" stamped in Cocoa.  Lenny the Drummer Bear is colored with Copics, cut out and mounted with Pop Dots. A piece of off white grosgrain ribbon and three blue "opals" finish off the card.

Joy!!

What can bring more Joy on Mother's Day than Grandchildren??  Tonight's card is for a "Grandmother" friend of mine and based on the sketch over at the Sketch Saturday Challenge.  I used cute, bright papers from the Simon Says April Stamp Card Kit Sunnier Days.  I love the bright prints.  The image is from Mo Manning.  This pair of kiddos is just so adorable =)  I colored them with Copic markers, fussy cut them out and mounted them with Pop Dots.  I found some cute little paper flowers in my stash and used the sentiment Joy from a retired CtMH Christmas stamp set.

Hope you are all having a wonder-filled Mother's Day Weekend!!
