Anything but Square...

This week over at Sassy Cheryl's the Challenge is to create a card that is anything but Square.  I have been antsy to use an image of hers that is just so stinkin' cute!!  This little girl blowing the giant Bubble just makes me laugh!!  I used the Sketch from Deconstructed Sketches (again, second card in a row =) The image is colored with Copics.  Papers are from Cosmo Cricket - Tea Time.  I made the paper flower using a Sizzix Die, wet the two pieces, crinkled them up and set them under my bright lamp to dry.  I then smoothed them out and voila.  I am happy with how it came out and have to thank Kathie from my SSW Team for the instructions she had on her post this week - awesome Kathie!!  I also used lace trim from Recollections.

Here is the Sketch...

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I sure am GRATEFUL for Daylight Savings Time...  Up way too late tonight, so very happy to "Fall Back"!!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #177

Wednesday once again and that means it's time for a new Sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday!!  I do hope you will play along with us!!  This week we are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps!!  Love their Digi images - super cute!!

I used the cute image Jesse Moon - so sweet!!

Here is a little info on Jodie, that woman behind Bugaboo:

Everything That You Ever Wanted to Know About Bugaboo Stamps: As if raising  five children in the frozen land of the North was not enough of a challenge, Jodie Mackrell decided to dip her cold little Canadian toes into the world of papercrafting by opening an online store full of her illustrations. That was two years ago. Today Bugaboo Stamps is one of the leading companies in digital images, and we're still growing! From seriously snarky to sugary sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects. Jodie works very hard to provide New Releases and Freebies every week!

If your taste runs to rubber (and you know who you are), you can find Bugaboo Stamps stamps at Totally Stampalicious. And finally, join the Bugaboo Stamps DT for weekly challenges at Catch the Bug.

Here is Arlana's Sketch...

Sympathy...

I used the Sketch over at Retro Sketches to make three Sympathy cards.  I think this is a Sketch I will go back to often.  Beautiful Sketch, easy to create, and so versatile!!
There was a tragic death this weekend of a young man who was best friend to Anthony, a Senior at our church.  So hard to find words to say...  Lots of hugs, prayers and acknowledgement of his hurting heart, was all I could do...  Such a reminder of the fact that life is fleeting, so important to be sharing our Faith...  I had met this young man a few times when he came to church with Anthony.  My heart goes out to his family and friends...
Also, a young Mom at our church, Tina, lost her Grandmother last week.  Another passing, of a woman who lived a long and blessed life...  still there are hurting hearts left behind...

For Anthony...

For Melinds, Anthony's Mom...

For Tina and her family...

The papers are all from my stash.  The burlap "ribbon" and Butterflies are Close to My Heart.  The organza ribbon from my stash, the the Scripture stamp God is our Refuge and Strength, an ever present HELP in trouble... is Verve.

Life is Good!

We had a Birthday Party tonight for my daughter's boyfriend Chad.  I chose to use a retired stamp set from Close to My Heart - Life is Good.  Of course Happy Birthday is the sentiment inside...  but Life is Good about sums up all that has been going on in Chad, and my daughter's lives right now.  They have successfully opened a Gymnastics Academy a little over a month ago and have in excess of 300 kids signed up - LIFE IS GOOD!!

Everything on my card is Close to My Heart except for the twine which is from The Twinery.  I used the Sketch from Sketch Saturday.  I am also entering this card in the Challenge over at Digital Tuesday Challenge Blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by - I really do appreciate it!!

Blessings - Sally

Sweet Sketch Wednesday!!

I can't believe it's Wednesday again already...  A friend posted on Facebook that Christmas is just 12 weeks away - WOW - thanks Cathy - how to create a mood of pANIC...!
This past weekend, I did some Apple picking.  Saturday with friends and Sunday with family.  I shared a few photos from Saturday's outing in an earlier post, but thought I would share a few pics of my family.  My daughter Laura and her boyfriend Chad, my son Scott and his wife Marisa, and my neice Katie, her husband Greg and my little buddy Axel.  We had a great time on a beautiful afternoon.

We only had a short time due to schedules, but next year we hope to make it a "whole day event"!!   We will see how that works out...

On to our Challenge...  I am loving being a part of the Design Team at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  I do hope you are enjoying playing along.  The sketches are always so great for showcasing beautiful papers and images!!  This week's is no different...

Our Sponsor this week is Deidre Mosher Designs.  She has such a unique style to her Digis - very fun!!  A quote from her Bio - Wildly Whimsical and Seriously Sassy Art is definitely a trademark of Deidre Mosher.  Our theme is Celebrating Women!!
I really enjoyed working with her image!!  Now I just have to wait for the perfect person to send it to... =)

This week Deidre has provided a $10 Gift Certificate to the winning entry - Thanks Deidre!!

The paper is a favorite pad of mine Graphic 45 - Little Darlings Collection - my go to paper for a baby card.  The image is colored with Copics.  The crocheted flower and button are Close to My Heart and the ribbon is from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I can't wait to see what wonderful cards you create with Arlana's Sketch!!

Sometimes You Just Need a HUG!

Hey there Crafters - today I spent the day with a couple of friends Apple Picking (although we did not pick, we bought... and I actually bought pears not apples... =).  It started out overcast but turned out to be a beautiful first day of Fall.  We had a nice day, had some yummy Apple Cider Donuts (still warm), saw lots of pumpkins, BIG and small, got in some walking...  saw lots of animals (I loved the pigs), stopped at a Coffee Shop for lunch (yay!!) and just enjoyed time together.

A face only a mother could love...

The card I made for the Retro Sketches Challenge is for one of those friends who I know, every once in a while... just needs a hug!! Going through my stamps tonight, I noticed just that sentiment was a part of the Morning Glory Pure Innocence stamp so, I created this card to give her at Church tomorrow.
I used a new Paper pad from My Mind's Eye the sweetest thing - Tangerine.  The Paper and the Card Stock were a part of my September Monthly Kit from Taylored Expressions.  Always love when that comes in the mail each month - always a nice surprise!!

After paper piecing her dress and coloring the rest of the image with Copics, I cut her out and mounted her with Pop Dots.

Thanks so much for visiting and... Happy Fall!!
