Congratulations!!

One of my nephews recently opened a coffee shop the Speckled Ax in Portland Maine.  I'm  heading up there with friends tomorrow for a cup of coffee - so excited!!  I made him this card based on the sketch over at Retro Sketches but I'm too late to post it to the Challenge  =(  I still thought the sketch was perfect for the card though - simple!!  Matt wood fire roasts his own coffee which is amazing!!

I used papers from The Almanac Collection 6 x 6 paper stack from Prima, Chocolate Card Stock and brads from Close to My Heart and Choclate Brown satin ribbon from my stash.  The Coffee Bean image is from Rhoda Design Studios colored with Copics.  Congratulations is stamped inside with Chocolate CtMH ink.

Mother's Day!!

Tonight's card is based on the sketch over at My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club.  Very fun sketch to work with!!  A few nights ago I made a card for my son and his wife with the sentiment I Love Being your Mom!  Well, I needed one more for my daughter and this PI image reminds me of my Laura when she was young - oh how she loved to swing!!  I am also entering this card in The Pink Elephant Challenge which is All About Mom.

The papers, Simple Stories 6x6 paper pad Fabulous and the ribbon are from the April Taylored Expressions Subscription Kit.  The image and sentiment are both Pure Innocence.  Her dress is pieced with embroidery floss tied at the waist and the rest of the image is colored with Copic markers and mounted with Pop Dots.

Photo Booth...

Many days while eating my lunch at work, I check out the many Challenges and choose the ones I want to do for the week.  When I went over to the City Crafters Challenge Blog, I knew theirs was a Challenge I had to do.  I am so thankful for their Challenge "Photo Booth".  The challenge was to incorporate at least one photo in your project.  I knew right away I wanted to use one of the many old photos I have from my parents, and when looking through the photos I just fell in love with the one featured on my card.  In the picture from left to right are my Aunt Grace, cousin Judy, Aunt Alice, Aunt Shirley, my Mom Margaret holding my brother Hal, behind them my Grandma Akerblom, Aunt June and "Auntie" Elizabeth (I wonder where Aunt Lillian was...).  By the age of my brother, this photo was probably taken in 1948.  There is a note on the back saying it was photographed in Carver,  MA.  I love this photo and am so happy to have been inspired by the Design Team to create this card.  (I think I will be looking for a frame, I won't be parting with this one...).  I just love the smile on my Mom's face - that is how I remember her...  ALWAYS SMILING!!

I used the Sketch from The Sweet Stop .  The papers are from The Almanac Collection 6 x 6 paper stack from Prima and the 6 x 6 Designer Paper Pad Fiddlesticks from Miss Caroline.  The stamp is Close to My Heart "Picture Perfect" stamped in Cocoa.  The small crocheted "doilies" are Recollections mounted with CtMH brads.  And lastly brown twine from The Twinery.
Thanks so much for stopping by - wishing you all a very Happy Mother's Day!!

I Love Being Your Mom!

Mother's Day is fast approaching...  The Challenge at Perfect Sentiments this week is Handmade Flowers for Mom.  Since my Mom died in 2005, and my Grandmother's long before that, I wasn't quite sure what sentiment I wanted to use until I saw this sentiment in the Pure Innocence set Cute-a-tude.  I couldn't wait to make cards for my kids (now adults...)!  So my "Twist" to the Challenge is Handmade Flowers FROM Mom!!  I used the Sketch from the Deconstructed Sketch Challenge.

I chose paper from the 6x6 Paper Pack "Meadow Lark" from Prima.  The flower was cur on my Cricut using the Art Philosophy Cartridge.  I used organza ribbon below the flower and attached it with a brad topped off with a pearl opaque.  The sentiment is stamped with Close to My Heart Petal ink and three pearl opaques in the top right corner finish off the card.

I Love Being Your Mom!!!

Mojo Monday - Congrats Grad

I really love the Sketch over at Mojo Monday this week!!   With Graduations coming up, I thought it was a great sketch to get going on my Graduation Card stash!!  I used the papers from Follow Your Heart 6x6 Designer Paper Pad "Be Happy".  One of the Graduates I will be giving a card to had a concentration in Music - so these papers worked out perfectly!!  I distressed the edges with Sorbet ink from Close to my Heart and used a distressing tool to rough up the edges.  The black ribbon is also CtMH and the ribbon below is from my stash.  The flower is from Recollections and the sentiment is Verve - Small Celebrations.

Hope your week is off to a great start!!

Birthday Wishes

I love the Lili of the Valley rubber stamps.  The images are so sweet and cut very well.  They give a nice even stamp image.  Tonight I used a sweet little fairy image.  Seems like I am always in need of Birthday cards, and she is certainly full of Birthday Wishes!!  I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  The papers are from sei 6x6 Vanilla Sunshine.  I love the sparkly pink paper - one of my favorites!!  I tied the white sheer ribbon from top to bottom and tied double knots with a bit of bling at each center for the three flowers.

Thanks for visiting!!

feel better soon

Tonight's card is inspired by a day for daisies.  Their Challenge is Crazy for Calico!!  I chose this cute little image of this sweet little girl with a pile of kittens - I love her.  Her Night Shirt is paper pieced, and the rest of the image is colored with Copic Markers.  I used the sketch and am entering this card in the Deconstructed Sketch Challenge.

The papers are from Crate Paper Pretty Party 6x6 Pad.  The sentiment is from Verve and I also used Pearl Opaques from Close to My Heart.

Thanks so much for taking a look!!
